Shanghai is China’s biggest city, once called the Paris of the Orient. It’s also a global financial hub. In recent years, it took on a new function as the host of China’s annual import expo – CIIE. Enormous investments have been made in the venue’s exhibition areas, and of course, COVID-19 prevention and control measures in this huge in-person event. But with many economies forced to a standstill due to the coronavirus outbreak, the opening of this year’s expo demonstrates China is ready to share its huge market opportunities and contribute to the world’s economic recovery.
